The Garden of Me

004James 1:21 In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation garden of your life.

  (The Message)

Opening the eyes of my heart

I see me.

Lying down, laid bare.  I am the garden

The Gardener is standing before me

Perusing, looking deep

He sees the work that lies beneath the surface.

He sees me. He sees into me.

He sees me and sees beyond the barren mess I am.

He has imagined beauty in this garden before Him now.

He sees me as the finished, perfect work of His hands.

He has pulled out weeds, dug up roots, roots stubborn and deep in the dirt.

He stands perusing

Walks deeper into the garden

At the heart, He stands blood dripping red into the soil

Watering can in hand He liberally pours, washing me with the Water of His Word.

Promises spoken, covenant kept.

Old roots dug up and discarded make way for healing, new growth

Joy seeds flourish where sorrow once drooped.

The soil is rich and fertile where the blood and the water have dripped

Every inch of me, He touches. He knows my need and turns me so we are face to face

I am His forever.  His face is glorious, beauty unrivaled.  Eyes bursting with love and laughter

The Master Gardener, the One whose plan and promise will bring forth glorious beauty because we are a reflection of Him

Humility lays me low, lays me down

Humility receives the blood dripping red

We are God’s garden and He wants to grace us with His beauty, His touch

will you lie low before Him and allow Him access into the garden of your heart?

Will you allow Him to landscape you with His Word?

He wants to write His word on our hearts for our names are inscribed upon the palms of His hands.

His heart holds  promises like the beauty that waits to be revealed in the unfurling of the petals

Waiting with you for the revealing of His promises,

Listening for His heart, Jeannie Pallett

    Hi Jeannie,

I love The Message translation of James 1:21. It is one of my favourites, as it speaks so much into my heart, as God speaks to me so much through His creation.

I loved your beautiful words, it was a such a blessing to read them, and be nourished in God’s truth. :)

So glad your heart was nourished Anita. I had never read this verse in this translation before and the pictures it created for me, to say the least are vivid and I can only hope my words did my inside picture justice. In His grace and love, Jeannie
