How Do We Tend our Garden

The Lord feeds the birds of the air and gives us our daily bread. I am reminded of these truths these summer days whenever I sit out in my backyard and do just that…sit. Sit and watch the birds as they fly from branch to branch devouring their daily meals.  The orioles find the dishes we fill with grape jelly every day, the cardinals the sunflower seeds I scatter and all the while, He reminds me of how He fully satisfies us, knowing our every need.

Our role, if we desire satisfaction, contentment and peace is to seek the Lord and find Him just as the birds seek out their food. We seek, pursue, go after Him with all our heart and He is waiting ready to be found. He knows the way to our hearts!

The Lord desires to reveal His heart to ours so we cleave to Him becoming wholly His and walk ably in the way He has prepared for us.

When we have felt the sting of words or actions, we hurt and the tendency of our flesh is to (want to) lash back or seek retribution in some way. But our Lord? He calls us to walk a higher walk by living the love life and sowing seeds of righteousness.

Our job becomes that of learning how to tend our garden.

It is in the hard and hurtful experiences we learn how to tend our garden by showing love, kindness, mercy, forgiveness and purity of heart. His words of truth telling us who we are, Whose we are will become our daily bread. We can choose to forgive and harbour no grudges so we can face the (perceived) offending party with grace.

When our words and actions are motivated by love we are sowing seeds of righteousness and the Lord promises we will reap according to loving kindness and mercy.

Hosea 10:12 is speaks loudly to my spirit in these days,

Beloved, sow for yourself according to righteousness, uprightness and right standing with Me. Don’t allow circumstances to rob you of the blessing of obedience and reaping according to mercy and loving kindness. Allow that uncultivated ground to be broken up, for it is time to seek Me, to inquire for and of Me and to not look at what you see in the natural.  I want you to walk in My favour. I am with you to teach you of righteousness when it is hard and unnatural for you. I want to rain down upon you My righteous gift of salvation.

When ‘stuff’ happens in our relationships, we need to not be afraid to communicate with one another and take a first step in breaking up the barren and hard ground between us so life grows. This is the garden that we tend.

We ‘tend’ the garden, we don’t just rush in and step all over the little shoots of life with no regard. This is why holding our peace is so important. Its easy to rush in when we are all upset and hurt and just make a mess of what could become a beautiful garden, what is a beautiful garden even in the small beginning stages.

When we ignore the hurt and harden our hearts toward the other person, the ground separating us is dry and barren, rocky soil where nothing good can grow.118

The ground needs watering from the Well of the Word of Life. How we tend our garden will determine the seed that is planted. When we sow according to love we will have love seeds to plant so life flourishes. These seeds become available to us when we have spent time in the presence of Jehovah Shalom.

The seeds aren’t just tossed to the ground like so many wild flower seeds. The seeds are held as the  ground is prayerfully prepared and then planted with love, grace and mercy. Someone has to take the first step in cultivating the ground when misunderstanding has caused an offense to want to lodge in our hearts.

Our hearts are the ‘lodge’ of Christ, the ‘lodge’ of our hearts is where He abides and there is only room for His love.

As we hold fast, holding our peace and waiting upon the Lord, we are holding fast to love and mercy, to righteousness and justice. The peace of God will rule our hearts, will be the umpire of our hearts as we move towards the other with grace, peace, mercy and love.

The Name of the Lord is a Strong Tower and when we, His beloved, run into it we are saved. Saved to become wholly His with nothing lacking and every good and perfect gift within reach.

When we run to the Lord when we been hurt, as much as we try to ‘hold or keep’ our peace, His greater Peace, the very Presence of Jehovah Shalom overshadows us and becomes the essence of our peace. His peace, like a balm soothes our wounded soul and directs our thoughts into the Word of the Lord.

As much as the Father delights in us as we lean into Him, I believe we capture His attention and He is riveted upon us when we are willing to walk out into the deep with Him.

Our steps of obedience show Him we are willing to walk with Him in a place not yet ventured.

Lord, in my weakness, You are my strength. In Your High Tower not only am I safe, but I am made strong. Father, I have concentrated my gaze upon the safety in the High Tower and have not contemplated the being made strong. God, transform me so Your Word runs deep. Deeper than ever before Lord and I ask that You show Yourself strong on my behalf as I make decisions pleasing to You and speak words that are upright, righteous and in right standing with You. Father, how I long for the consequences of my words to bear good fruit because I have planted good seed.

Thank You for unveiling Your word in our Secret, Sacred Place and for letting me see as You do.  Thank You for showing me why I felt hurt and then showing me another picture of where I stand in You, of who I am in You as Daughter of the Most High King. Nothing can remove me from this place. Nothing. No weapon formed against me can prosper if I hold my peace!

Thank You for renewing my weak nature by the strength and power of Your love words as I bind myself to Your words. Teach me discretion and wisdom so that the words of my mouth are like deep waters. Your deep waters, God so that the wisdom of my words is like a gushing stream and fountain of life whose waters sparkle with freshness, purity and the giving of life.134

Teach me daily Lord to walk in the ‘so thats”~ Your plans and purposes!

Never Failing Faithfulness

Here we are nearing the end of another year and my heart is questioning, wondering how the new year will shape up, what goals should I set, have I been a blessing to others in this past year?

This year, 2016 has been rich with the blessing of change, of blessed new friendships and allowing the Lord to “lead the blind in a way they do not know” is nearly over and one theme runs throughout.  That theme is the Lord’s never failing faithfulness to us.

My ‘God time’ or private quiet times have changed in that I am no longer alone all day every day and that is nothing short of a blessing as my husband and I embark on this new journey of retirement.  We are walking together, being active and I am living out my faith instead of being secluded with Him.

Blessed have I been in the several years where I was able to sit with Him, learn to wait upon Him and know His voice and recognise the nudging of the Holy Spirit.  The course of the river changes and it became time to rise up and walk and stand in the faith and love He has given me.

So I have been walking and standing this year as opposed to sitting and waiting and writing.  And its been good even though I have sorely missed the writing while more keenly sensing that directional shift the Lord has been creating.  I am exactly where I am meant to be and just because I am doing something different does not mean I have missed it!

Pressing on and pressing in to Jesus has not been difficult this year; the pressing has just been shaped a little differently. His faithfulness has always been a beacon of light that has encouraged us and inspired us to keep on mining gold nuggets from the Word. We have learned a greater confidence in the Lord as our hearts have chosen to steadfastly trust Him.

One of the biggest lessons learned this past year has been to not look at what I can see in the natural, to not make judgements based on what my natural eyes see.  We are a blessed people when we walk in the way of the Lord.

His heart’s greatest longing is that we would keep His law of love and learn to love one another the way He has loved us.

He wants us to experience the height, depth, breadth and length of His love and we cannot do that if we are making judgements about one another based on what we see.  We can use our hands and arms to reach out to others in love instead of keeping them at arm’s length.

When we reach out we are then exercising the length of His love and in the welcome and embrace we show a portion of the breadth of the love of God.

Yes, God has been faithful, His faithfulness has known no bounds and He has used every situation He can to bring my heart into alignment with His so He can transform me into His very own image.

We, who are righteous with faces unveiled and seeing eyes will continue to behold the Word of God as a mirror.  The mirror of God’s word will reflect back to us the 3D image of ourselves.  He will reveal the truth to us about our spirit, soul and body, synchronizing us and bringing us into alignment with Him. As He reveals Himself in us and to us, we will grow in ever increasing beauty as we reflect His pure and beautiful image.

Knowing He is faithful, may we run to Him so we are able to run the course of our race with Him.  May we clearly hear His voice on the wind and soar with Him to places not yet imagined but oh so necessary for the building up of the saints of God and those to come.

Will you position yourselves and allow Him to prepare you for readiness as a participator in the works of the Kingdom of Heaven?

Will you position yourself next to Him and grasp the greatness of His love for you and His never failing faithfulness and close out this year feeling the comfort of the cushion of His love?

Faith works by love.

Beyond the Silence is the Sound of Heaven

Are you familiar with the feelings of silence from Heaven, that Your Father is busy doing something else and not paying attention to you?

Listen and hear what is beyond the silence, hear what He is speaking to your heart into the fabric of your days….Hear the sound of Heaven…

I walk with you in companionship.  Good friends do not always need to communicate with words, the strength of their friendship lies in the comfort of their periods of silence.

They are so in tune with one another they know each other’s thoughts, they feel one another’s pain and share in each other’s joy!

Friends walk united; they walk as one, not needing the flow of words between them.  So it is My child, with you and Me.

I know you completely and walk with you in the intimacy of that knowledge.

I am loving you and I am pleased with you.  I love the way you love and desire to walk in step with Me, wanting to catch every Word My lips may form. You come so close that you hear the beating of My heart.  You hear the sound of Heaven in My comforting and familiar Voice.

I will help you find comfort in the knowledge that in the place close to My heart words are not always necessary.  In that place is deep and abiding trust and friendship, a place of perfect peace and comfortable companionship.  When you are snuggled up next to My heart, all striving ceases and you enter into My rest.

I was silent with Abraham for fourteen years and I called Abraham the friend of God.  I was silent and in that silence, keen hearing was developed.  You too can hear what is beyond the silence.

Because of the Cross, things are different now and My Spirit dwells within you, you are My resting place, your heart is where I have chosen to dwell.

The instruments in the Temple were overlaid with refined, pure gold.

Living in you, I overlay you.  I make you to be a child who is purified and refined and the glory of My life within you causes you to shine and be radiant, pure and holy.

You and I working together as one because you have chosen to allow yourself to be a vessel of honor for glorious purposes.  It is also your choices and desires that set the pace of our walk.

I am always right here with you and I am always forging the life within you even as iron sharpens iron.

I walk with you in companionship.  I love you, I affectionately fashioned you with My very own hands!  I am not trying to make you into someone else nor do I want  you to be like any of My other children, save for My character and nature being manifested through your life.

Each of you is unique and special to Me.  Though some of your giftings may be the same, the way you move in them are unique to each person.

The yielded heart of love and surrender attracts Me to your side.  The yielded heart of love and surrender is what I see in you.

If you all operated the same way, your giftings would create a cacophony of noise to Me.   Each of you is an instrument in My symphony, each of you, when yielded to Me allow Me to produce the music.

There are periods of rest in music, enjoy those times, enjoy the stillness within My Presence for there you shall know I AM.  I AM yours completely in the silence.

There is nothing I withhold from you.  I am building your walls of precious stones, I am building you and pouring into you so there will be no cracks.  I am fitting you into the specific places I want you to be.  Yes, I have specific places for you to be, do not look around dissatisfied wanting the set of a jewel elsewhere.

Keep on allowing Me to hold you in My hand, turning you over so that you sparkle with the radiance of My love and care and know that the setting I place you in is perfect.  There you will lack nothing.

Each of you will be continually enhancing the beauty of the other.

I know the plans and purposes I have for you.  Continue yielding yourselves and at the appointed times I will bring to pass those plans.  Know that until those plans come to pass, you are, right now, where I have purposed.  You are in the place I have prepared for you.  Rest in Me.

Look at Me fully in the now of your moments. Walk in full assurance of My companionship. The sound of My Voice is what you will hear beyond the silence.

With a humble heart of love, I thank you Jesus for sharing words to encourage our hearts.

Beckoned by the King, I am Yours,

For those Days When Trust is Hard

Every single one of us go through experiences that cause us to make choices one way or another for God.  His Word tells us that each day is one that He has made and that it is a day to rejoice.

He causes each sunset to give way to a new sunrise that brings us fresh opportunities for obedience in areas both small and large. The choice of attitude we adopt is always up to us.

Surrendering to love, surrendering to trust in the Father’s plan and purpose for our lives will give us joy we never dreamed existed!

Obedience borne of love will see us in an attitude of praise, gratitude and trust regardless of our circumstances.  We will choose to rejoice.   The Word we have hidden in our hearts is to rule our emotions; without questioning the relevance or reasons we are simply to rejoice.

However, when the days in our lives come that threaten to topple the tranquility of the life we enjoy what gives us balance and stabilizes our hearts?

Nothing will stabilize us, bring peace to our souls and quiet our racing hearts but the Word of God that we have hidden in our heart.  Hiding the Word in our hearts is a discipline and a choice and it isn’t the easiest and most pleasurable pastime but it works and is effective!

The Word of God will rise to quiet the straying thoughts in our heads that threaten to take us way off course.

Rejoice and be exceedingly glad is what the apostle Peter tells us when we face trials and hardships.  Our hearts will be able to rejoice when we make the choice to worship our unchanging God of mercy and might, compassion and companionship.

His friendship, His loving touch, His spoken words, His whispered encouragement and comfort all come to mean so much more than anything outside of Him can bring to us.

He is worthy of our praise and adoration, worthy of our worship and exultation regardless and in spite of anything we see in the natural areas of our life.

Repeatedly His word proclaims that He has goodness stored up for those who love and trust Him.

God has such a precious steadfast love for us, He takes great pleasure in the prosperity of His children and we are prosperous when we wait for Him and hope in His mercy and unfailing loving kindness.

The deepest core of our being waits earnestly and expectantly for the Lord for He has promised to be our Help and our Shield.  We can rejoice because we are one with Him.  But it is hard, so very hard sometimes to wait with patience.

Let us never grow weary in waiting upon Him, for His mercy and loving kindness is upon us in proportion to our waiting and hoping for Him.  We can rejoice in our afflictions for it is in the afflictions that we have cause to look for, hope for and wait upon our God.

Today I am calling out for His mercy. I need Him to undertake for us like never before.  I have neither strength nor ability to deal with the situation of today.  I need Him.  I need Him to release a buyer for our home.  I need Him to encourage us and show us His mercy by showing us how He has been busying Himself with our every step.

Psalm 37:23  The steps of  a righteous man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way and He busies Himself with his every step.

We might lament and say, oh, what if He does not delight in me, what if I am not considered righteous?  Read on…

Zephaniah 3:17  The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Saviour who saves!  He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest in silent satisfaction and in His love He will be silent and make no mention of past sins or even recall them; He will exult over you with singing.

2 Corinthians 5:21  For our sake, He made Christ to be sin so that in and through Him we become righteous.

Proverbs 16:9  A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.

2Corinthians 5 establishes for us that we are the ‘good man’, because He has made us to be the righteousness of God in Christ.  This is His Word and it is forever settled in heaven.  Selah.

Proverbs confirms the Lord is directing our steps, has directed them in the past and continues moment by moment to direct and establish our steps.

And Zephaniah? He confirms the joyous fact that the Lord rejoices over us and delights in us.  God is in our midst, loving us, pleased with us.

Jesus lifts up the hem of His garment, rises and dances because of His great joy and love for us!

One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 30:18  - and therefore the Lord earnestly waits, expecting, looking, and longing to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving -kindness to you.  For the Lord is a God of justice, blessed, happy fortunate, to be envied are all those who earnestly wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him, for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship.  - from the Amplified version

Where do you need a touch from God, what are you believing God for in your days?  I pray these words will bless your heart and inspire faith and trust in the One who loves you more than we can ever imagine.

Oh, and if you want more words to inspire your heart to deep intimacy with Jesus, grab a copy of my book Beckoned by the King at this link: http://jeanniepallett.com/beckoned-by-the-king.  I know you will love it!

Synchronized and Abandoned

Have you ever watched a group of synchronized swimmers and marveled at the unity of their actions, admired their grace and flexibility?  You can tell they have abandoned themselves to the program, abandoned themselves to the music and the feel of the water.

As a group of synchronized swimmers, they have trained and practised for many hours, disciplining themselves to the hard work of synchronizing with the other.  Their movements must all be the same, – synchronized, and each one must move like the other, in tune with the music and according to the movements, the teacher has planned.

They abandon themselves to the lesson and put on a glorious show.  If they had abandoned the lesson there would be no synchronized movements, no beauty and grace to see.

We can abandon our trust in God and experience stress and ultimate failure or we can abandon ourselves to trusting God and trust Him to be working on our behalf to turn things for good.

There is quite a difference!

A building can be abandoned and left to ruin and is not fit for habitation.

You and me together and all believers everywhere, we are the habitation of Almighty God.  He is building in our characters, holiness, dedication, consecration ~ Abandonment to God!

We abandon our old ways of doing and thinking and abandon ourselves to taking on the mind of Christ by believing His Word.  We abandon ourselves to the promises and truth of His Word.

We choose to fret not.  We choose to trust!  In our abandonment, we find great rest for our souls.

We look at our seemingly impossible, hopeless appearing situations and shake our heads not being able to figure out how to get beyond this barricade of trouble.

But God!  But, our God, who stills the noise of the seas and stills the noise of their waves, is all the time working on our behalf for good.  Why?  Because He told us in His word that His plans for us are good, they are plans that will give us a future filled with hope in His unchanging, unfailing promises.

Beloved, we can trust Him with the seemingly impossible circumstances of our daily lives, no matter how fraught with trouble they are.

The ‘seas’ cover three quarters of this big ole earth ~ that is a huge expanse of water with tides ebbing and flowing unceasingly and with such steadiness that man is able to forecast a low or high tide right to the minute.

The stormy seas are magnificent (especially if you are on land!), they are fearful (if you are on the water!) and always awe inspiring.  When we remember the story of the disciples in the boat at night when the storm arose, in their fear they woke up Jesus.  He arose.  Christ arose.

Over the noise of the seas, His Voice rang out, ‘Peace, be still’.

The seas calmed as did the hearts of the disciples.  The seas calmed but the noise of the seas and the noise of the waves did not.

The noise is a natural consequence of the movement of the waters and it is beyond comprehension, impossible to fathom, and impossible in the natural for the noise to cease.

Yet, God, our God stills the noise of the seas and stills the noise of its waves.

Beloved, He is able to calm all our fears, bring peace to our souls so our hearts fully trust Him without reservation.  Will you join me and synchronize your spirit, soul and body with His Word so we can trust Him with complete abandon?

Abandon yourself in the Ocean of His Love.  You will float beloved, He will carry and sustain you and supply every need you may ever have.

Will you trust Him wholeheartedly?  I am learning as He peels away different layers and shows me what I am trusting in, instead of trusting in the Lord and allowing the Lord to be my confidence.   He will never fail us for His love for us is too great.

In the Ocean of His great love, let us be abandoned to His love and become the synchronized body of Christ.
