When God Scribes Your Heart with His Word

Here I am sitting at the computer this morning looking at the blank screen before me upon which I have not written words for nearly half a year. Its a little bit scary to be here in this quiet spot.

Quiet, because no words have been recorded for so long and quiet because it is quiet here at home…alone. A rarity it is to have a few hours of alone time before me!

But God…God has been faithful to scribe my heart with His word and I have been learning to hear His Voice in the busy and oh, so different life He has ushered me into.

Faith takes different twists and turns in the King’s River. The River moves and flows and is full of currents and eddies and for those on shore watching, the “River people” are never in the same place. If I were to be doing everything the same here and now as I was when my circumstances were different then I need to question whether or not I am lead by the whisper of the Holy Spirit.

I loved when I blogged and wrote regularly, sharing all the Lord was revealing and teaching me, and yes, I have missed my time here. But…but God has me in His River and I cannot stay in the same place. His words continue to pour into my heart and while I don’t seem to have had the time to write them down, the Lord has given me people who I can share face to face, heart to heart with. No words have been wasted, they have just taken on a different venue as God scribes His word on my heart and then gives opportunity for me to speak them.

He is fully acquainted with every area of our lives and knows the deepest desires of our hearts. There is no good thing He will withhold from us and when we learn to yield, surrender and abandon ourselves to Him, He strengthens us with nothing less than His own mighty strength. Our hearts are prepared for the dwelling of the Son-King and the life of Christ will be evident through our own as we walk and live by faith in the power of God.

We are one with Him. Jesus has filled us with the fullness of Himself and we lack nothing. We have been made full having come to fullness of life in Christ. We are filled with the fullness of the complete Godhead and nothing is missing or lacking in our growth.

Because we have been made full, there are no empty spaces.

Are we living with eyes wide open so we see and know with the eyes of our heart, the immeasurable, unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power IN and FOR us who believe?

The lives we live, day in and day out, yielded to the Spirit of God will express and reflect the fullness of the Godhead through our broken but surrendered vessels.

We are whole and complete in Him and our true lives are found in Him.

Our true life is Him!

Are you learning to lose your life only to find everything you need is (in) Him?

Faith and Fishing

I realized the other day that the selling of our home is much like FAITH and FISHING!

Very loosely, our realtor can be likened to our Father God…very loosely likened but I think you’ll get the gist.  Our realtor is good, we trust him, our plans align with his and he is working on our behalf.  That sounds like our Father doesn’t it!

I can’t see what he is doing day by day, I just have to trust his integrity, trust and believe that he is doing what he said he would and could do ~ sell our house.  He knows our time frame and my job is to trust our realtor.  Trust that he will accomplish the plan.  That sounds a lot like faith!

We don’t have to second guess decisions we have made that have carried us to this point in time.  We waited on the Lord so we would have total peace before Bruce chose his retirement day.  We figured (he) figured out many scenarios regarding finances and life in general and came to a mutual agreement that September 1, 2015 would be his retirement day.  We are on the ten week countdown.  After thirty years with the same company, that isn’t much time…

The timing happens to coincide with these projects that are being planned for North East BC.  (read post here where I share how I trusted in those plans) That coinciding is not an ‘accident’ because the Lord and Bruce and I are working and living cooperatively.  Together, trying to mesh hearts and wills and lives.

God gives grace for those times we miss it, but this time of selling our home is not one of those times of ‘missing it’.

We have to trust God’s word of truth that a man plans his way but the Lord directs his step.  Proverbs 16:9

When we apply that truth to our circumstance, when we rub it all over our days, the Lord truly can be the One in whom we have confidence.

Oh and fishing!  How does our house selling relate to fishing?  Well, we have a great home (the lure), we are in a great location (where the fish are biting), the lure has been let down into the water (when it was advertised for sale) and now we have to do what any good fisherman will do well.  WAIT!

The Lord says, ‘Be still and know I am God.  Be still in your waiting and have confidence in Me.’

When we took our grandson fishing a few years ago,DSC_0089 Bruce taught him how to tie the (hmm, I am content to take the readied line and drop it over the side of the boat, enjoy the sun, the sparkles on the water, the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves, spotting the eagles’ lookout) Bruce was teaching him how to prepare the line and how to count the lengths as he let his line down.  Anyways, the point of this is that Jeremy would reel his line in every few minutes for one reason or another ‘just to check’.DSC_0077 - Copy - Copy

He hadn’t matured to the point where he was able to trust that his Grandpa had taken us to the perfect spot, given him a proven lure and was operating the boat at optimum efficiency for catching fish!DSC_0107

When I tie these scenarios together, I come up with this:

I can trust the Lord my God.  I can look back over forty years and remember many of the difficult circumstances and know that the Lord led me and navigated the way through the wilderness.  He allured me with His love in the dry and barren places and made His sound known to me.  I have seen His faithful provision time after time, always right on time.  He has provided and blessed and stretched and taught me how to dig my roots deeper into the soil in His garden of grace and truth.  He is not going to take His eyes off me now, nor will He stop thinking about me or cease in plans of goodness for a future filled with hope in His promises!

The Lord is my helper, I can and will trust and be confident in Him.

Can you think of areas in your life where you need to trust and just be confident in the Lord your God?

All In Praise and Thanks

Father, thank you for your Presence within us. Lord, we need to be able to sense and feel you not just by faith sometimes and I know for a lot of us that time is now. Father, would you so comfort and deliver your children from pain that all we feel is joy, peace, and the overwhelming sufficiency of who You are.

Even though we know a life of faith pleases You, would You in Your kindness allow us to feel the amazing powerful presence of Immanuel.  God with us, the all-sufficient God, the meeter of every need.  We cry out to You.  Be the Lifter of our head, let us feel the touch of Your hand as You lift us up to gaze into the face of grace.

The overwhelming sufficiency of who You are. God fill us anew with that knowledge, that knowing of You and Your heart in all areas. Would you meet the crying out need of your children? I know You hear us and have mercy on us. Let relief come in the areas of necessity. Continue Reading

I’m All In Faith Sea

DSC_0706So when my friend Heather Mertens asked me if I would like to share a prayer once a month  for her closed ALL IN Prayer and Praise group on Facebook, I felt pretty humbled because she has some great warriors in the group.  I said yes of course, because I can learn so much from y’all.  Hey, as a Canadian I do like that little bit of slang!

I am choosing to use my blog for my prayers, simply because I like writing out my prayers and posting them.  I think many of you like it too…Continue Reading

The Logistics of Love

Keeping the commandments-the greatest one love for God and love for people drives us to abide in the love of God.  His word teaches us the logistics of love.

What sweeter place can there be?  What better hiding place when we discover we do not have the natural ability to love as He has.

When we find it difficult to keep the commandment to love we then must choose to obey by faith the Lord’s instructions to love and to meditate on what He has taught us about the logistics of love.

I shall love the Lord my God, I shall because I am obliged to do so – I obey and the fruit of my obedience is blessing!  And His enabling power to love who I cannot.

When we have chosen to deliberately set our wills to love God by our obedience to His Word we will discover that we are abiding in His love and living out of that determination to keep the Father’s commandments.

How many times are our hearts apprehensive when we hear the words of Jesus speak to our hearts to love one another just as He has loved us?  It isn’t everyone of us who is easy to love after all!

One might think He was asking too much of us until we consider Jesus who said and continues speaking out the truth that ” we are His friends if we keep on doing the things which He commands us to do” see John 15:14.

But I have called you My friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from My Father.  I have revealed to you everything that I have learned from Him.”

I have called you My friends…

He looks out at the sea of humanity and declares His friendship with each person.Continue Reading
