Living in the Surpassing Greatness

March 13, 2015 by Jeannie Pallett 22 Comments

Don’t you just love it when you discover that something you have said or done has been an answer to someone’s very specific prayer?  I do!

It gives me a thrill beyond anything to know I moved or spoke in obedience to my Father and became an answer to the heartfelt prayers of another.

There is one prayer in particular I think would be a game changer for us if we chose to be answers to that prayer.

The prayer I have in mind is Paul’s prayer when he prayed in Ephesians 1:15-19 that you and I would know, experience for ourselves, what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.

What if we grabbed those words by the horns and hung on until we became living answers to his prayer?

The Lord wants us to know that power! He isn’t hiding or withholding power from us – He has placed this surpassing power within us!

God, may we learn to live from this place of surpassing power. Would you teach us, Father, revealing to us the secrets of Your kingdom?

He hides us within the shelter of His wings; we are hidden in Him and have free access to all of His promises.

The surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe is the same power within us that raised Christ from the dead!

As Christians, we are believers and this treasure in Ephesians is not putting limits to our belief. It isn’t saying we have to do something to activate our belief or believe harder or stronger. Our believing is a position of rest.

We believe, therefore the surpassing greatness of His power is being exercised towards us!

The treasure we carry in our earthly bodies? It is the surpassing greatness of the power of God toward us who believe!

The power at work within us to do exceedingly above and beyond all that we can ask think or imagine is the same power that raised Christ from the dead! And it dwells in us!

How about it?  Shall we endeavor to become a people practising living in the expectation of receiving the above and beyond anything we can ask, think or imagine and live life in answer to the King as He beckons us ever closer to His heart?

Let’s commit to being a people who delight in living in the surpassing greatness!

There is no other thrill like knowing you’ve been used by God to co-labor with Him to be someone’s blessing!

And exciting to think we are co-laborers with HIM as He empowers and equips us to move in that channel of blessing. Thanks Michelle.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. (John 6:28-29 KJV)
When we commit to following Christ we also must commit to being used as he sees fit. I like the disciples question there…”What shall we do?”

I see the word, understand the concept but the power part still scares and awes me. Not to be taken lightly. Know Him intimately yes. The other thing I got to trust Him with cuZ I don’t trust myself.

I love the image I get with this part “He hides us within the shelter of His wings; we are hidden in Him”. I have been resting in His sheltering arms for the last few weeks as I feel Him strengthen me. I love how you said He beckons us closer to His heart. Beautiful, sweet words that will be with me for the rest of my day for sure.
    Thanks Jeannie!

Thanks for stopping by Aundi. It is easy to forget as well as just skim over the verses and not the truths penetrate our hearts. I can’t tell you how many times I have read those verses and then they just exploded in my heart that Paul prayed for you and me to KNOW and we can!
