Jesus is Our Light

As we walk along our roads in life, no matter when the shadows of darkness fall, one thing is certain.

Jesus is our Light. He is the Light of our world.  He brings Light to our weary, worried  hearts and speaks peace and comfort to our souls.

O Lord, how great You are!

Fear is like a shadow.  It lurks and hides around the corners, it wants to rob us of our joy today.

O Lord, You are our everlasting light.

You reveal where the enemy has encamped around us.  Though I feel hemmed in and unsure of the direction You want me to take, one thing is certain.

O Lord, how great You are!  Your voice is like the sound of many rushing waters.  I can hear Your voice above the pounding in my ears.

O Lord how great You are.

The one thing I have desired most in all my life I will continue to seek. Your face O God.  Your beautiful face.  I will feel the breath of Your words upon my cheeks, I will be close to You and hear Your spoken words to me.

I can hear You whisper to my heart…

Child, you are fully known to Me and yet still I search your heart.  You sit quietly in My presence and I love it so.  Some days you rise too hurriedly, I know your agitation and long to hold you still.

I know why you think the way you do.  I am your Creator and Father.  My hands formed and fashioned you and fitted you with certain and unique giftings and characteristics.  I understand you like no other can.

I search out the path for you to walk and I search out the path as you walk it creating opportunities for you to use the gifts and talents I have placed within you.

I make sure there are still waters, lush green meadows where you can lie down, safe and secure in My presence.

I am thoroughly acquainted with you, understanding your motives and reasonings of your heart.  I have created special places on your path where you will spend time and become intimately acquainted with Me.  You will hear My voice in the sound of the still waters as they splash and bubble over the rocks.  You will revel in My fragrance as you lie down in rich meadows.

Oh, child, you shall drink in My presence and be satisfied by nothing other than the fullness of My presence within you.  You need not speak a word for I know the words you will speak even while they are yet a thought.

I hover over you, I overshadow you with light and completely cover you.  You are hidden in Me and My hand holds, covers and protects you.

I am your Abba Father and I love you.

Thank you Father, you are mine and I am yours forever.  Your word is greater than gold, sweeter than honey.  I will listen, consent and submit to your word and apply my mind to knowledge.  Your promise is that it will be pleasant if we keep them in our mind, believing them so that our lips will be accustomed to confessing your promises.  As we do so, our trust, belief, reliance, support and confidence in You our Lord grows and steadfastly rests in You.  Proverbs 22:17-19

Verse 3 words to one of my favorite hymns; a HYMN that first grabbed me at my first men’s retreat at Forrest Home in the San Bernardino mountains in the early 70’s.
And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, Sent Him to die. I scarce can take it in; That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing. He bled and died to take away my sin; Chorus– “Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee. How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Your words brought those words to memory of truly how GREAT MY FATHER IS!

It just jumped out at me. ‘I am your Abba Father, and I love you.’ Jeannie, I’ve just (moments ago) finished reading Mark Stibbe’s book ‘I Am Your Father’ with tears running down my face and I found your blog and God reached out and pulled me to Him. I have such a hard time thinking of God as my Abba.
Thank you for this beautiful, beautiful post.

Aww, Helen, how awesome our God is the way He lets us know who He is and who He wants to be to us. Our Abba Daddy. I’m so glad you let me know my words touched your heart Helen. May you not be in a hurry to crawl down off His lap out of His embrace. Our experiences change our way of thinking. May you have an absolutely delightful time with your Abba as He reveals this side of His heart to you. I bless you Helen.
