Today is the day the Lord has made and today, the Lord wants us to rejoice and be glad. Right now, this very second in time is the time to rejoice and be glad.
God does not want us to wait until our lives are all pretty and picture perfect. He says ‘now’ for now is the time most important to Him.
Gladness and rejoicing (Psalm 45:15) are leading us into the presence of the King. Their voices cry out, ‘Behold your King! Holy, righteous, all consuming fire of blazing holiness is He.’
Do we dare take the offered hand of Gladness? Do we dare?
Our God is righteous and holy. He loves righteousness and holiness. He loves to see His people in right standing with His heart.
But, you say, He is a God who sees all and knows all and has full knowledge of the intent and motives of my hidden heart. He knows my every thought. How can I come into His presence?
He knows your heart; He knows your every longing and desire for that elusive sense of inner wholeness. We crave a sense of peace and security in an unstable and scary world.
Listen! Your God, my God, our God has anointed us with the oil of gladness
He hates sin. He hates unrighteousness; He cannot, and will not look upon it, no matter how deep His love for us is.
We want to be happy, but God wants fellowship, rich and sweet with us. He does not let us be satisfied with the momentary, fleeting feelings of happiness.
Gladness leads us into the presence of the King.
Gladness directs us to the door named repentance. It is here at this holy, blood stained altar where we confess our known sin and God, in His graciousness, forgives our sin and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. (1John 1:9~ one of the first memory verses I learned!)
He strips away the sin and unrighteousness that brought unsteadiness into our lives and we become balanced and centered. Psalm 119:113-120 has Samech as the Hebrew alphabet header. It means balance point. God loves a just and perfect weight. The question is will we allow Him to strip us of the familiar comforts of the old?
The King sees us clothed in garments inwrought with gold; gold that has been refined and purified through the process of the fire. Oh, beloved, when we walk through the fires of life, may we allow ourselves to be subjected to the refining and purifying the trial offers.
There is a fire burning on the inside. The flames consume all that is not of Him. Will we let it burn on the inside of us? He is sifting and shaking anything that can be shaken; He is eliminating anything not from Him. May we learn to build with gold, silver and precious stones on a foundation where Christ is the solid rock.
Repentance adorns us with a beauty the King desires. This place of intertwined beauty and sorrow is where Gladness leads us on our journey into the presence of the King. We have heard Him say no one can see God without holiness. Do not despair or lose heart. God our Father, our Papa King will never cast aside His holiness to entertain us. What He does do is anoint us with the oil of gladness so we can bear the sorrow of repentance.
Gladness accompanies and encourages us to live our lives in service to the King. We serve Him by acknowledging our sin and unrighteousness and laying them down at the altar of repentance. His blood has poured out and we are covered. His blood has forgiven every past, present and future sin. Can you be glad in that knowledge?
Beckoned by the King, we embark on a journey of joy, trial by fire and flood, overcoming all by the power of the blood.
We enter His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts because we know the joy of forgiveness. Our hearts are touched and moved to obedience to the King by the price of mercy. We choose submission to His word, choosing to honor Him even in the deepest recesses of our beings. Every aspect of our lives is visible to Him and because of the blood, He sees us all glorious and radiant with the beauty of His holiness. Our lives are a fragrant sacrificial offering and His delight in us in so great! He is in the heavenly courts dancing and singing over us, rejoicing over our lives with a love song.
Will you take the offered hand and allow Gladness to lead you into the presence of the King?
