Contend for His Presence

January 4, 2019 by Jeannie Pallett Leave a Comment

To contend is to defend a belief or keep affirming it is true.
To contend is to struggle in rivalry.
To contend is to hold to a fact.
To contend is to assert or maintain position.
To contend we must begin from a platform of truth.
We recognise that God is True and Unchanging and we can trust Him to remain true to His character.God is Yahweh, the One who has always existed.

For 2019 and beyond, I am going to contend for the manifestation of the promises of God in my life and even more importantly, the manifestation of Who He is in my life. Christ in me is the hope of glory and more than anything, I desire to decrease so His presence in me can increase and be readily seen.

Contending with Truth

He is Adonai, God who is the Lord over all. I contend to yield all of my unrenewed soul and desires of the flesh to bow to His will and shaping.

Yahweh-Rohi, the Lord my shepherd. I contend to live in perfect peace and the rest of God experiencing His perfect shepherding.

Yahweh-Shammah, the Lord who is present. I contend to actively experience the presence of God by meditating on His word and speaking it out and over my life more consistently.

Yahweh-Rapha, the Lord our healer. “By His stripes we are healed. I am contending for good health so I must yield my food intake and choices to Him.

Yahweh-Tsidkenu, the Lord our righteousness. When we believe in Jesus Christ, He becomes our righteousness. I want my life to be worthy of His gift of righteousness. I must contend for right thinking.

Yahweh-Jireh, the Lord will provide. Jesus Christ said that Father cares for us and we never need to worry about provision. He is our source of life, in every way. I want to see His provision and blessing in even greater degrees than I am now.

Yahweh-Nissi, the Lord our banner. The Lord gives us the victory in spiritual warfare. When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Lord raises a banner of His love over us and covers us. He wages war on our behalf and makes us more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. I do not want to see any storms come my way but I must be able to rest in His Lordship and Love.

Yahweh-Shalom, the Lord is peace. Whenever there are storms in your life, hide in Him. He is your shelter in the storm. He gives peace beyond understanding, even when circumstances are chaotic. He is our shelter and our shield. I contend for perfect peace.

Yahweh-Sabbaoth, the Lord of Hosts. Jesus Christ is the Lord of hosts, the Captain of the armies of heaven. I contend to see His majesty, power and authority ruling my life.

Yahweh-Ghmolah, the God of Recompense. The Lord says in Romans 12 “vengeance is mine, I will repay.” We should never avenge others for what they do to us, but leave it in God’s hands. I contend to rest in His ability to restore that which has been stolen in the past and bring the restoration in the now of this life.

Elohim, God is creator, powerful and mighty, Lord of lords. He is the Lord Most High, stronger and mightier than anyone or anything. When you face impossible circumstances or adversaries, our God is stronger. I contend to hide in Him and be assured in my heart and soul that He can and will work everything out for my good.

El-Elyon, the most high God. Jesus Christ is exalted high above every name. I contend to give Him all rights to the Lordship of my life.

El-Gibhor, Mighty God. The Lord is mighty to save. His arm is not too short. Whatever problem you are facing, know that your God is El-Gibhor, MIGHTY! I contend to hold my peace so my God can fight my battles.

El-Olam, the everlasting God. God is eternal, while your problems are temporary. His love will never change. His promises are true. Build on Him, who is eternal and do not focus on your temporary situations. He will show you His great and eternal goodness. I contend for the consistent nature and character of God to be revealed through my life.

El-Roi, the strong one who sees. God is with you. He sees you and He knows you. The silent cry of your heart is heard and He loves you more than you can imagine. He will lead you and fill your heart with His praise. I contend for eyes to see the supernatural and respond in godliness and compassion.

El-Shaddai-Rohi, God Almighty, the mighty One of Jacob. He is the Almighty Creator of heaven and earth. I contend for the mightiness of God to be released through my life.

El-Chuwl, the God who gave birth. God is our Creator and our Father. He saw us and He loved us, even before we were born. He has a plan for your life and if you walk with Him, He will fulfill His dreams over your life and amaze you. I contend to walk in His plans and purposes for me and to be amazed at His wisdom and goodness.

El-Deah, God of knowledge. Wisdom comes from the Lord. When we fear God, keep His commandments, and love one another, we will know Him as He is and His wisdom will guide us. I contend to seek first His kingdom, to revere and hold Him in great awe and be a vessel for His wisdom, love and knowledge.

Attiyq Youm, the Ancient of Days. God is eternal. He was before the beginning of time. He has all authority. Every knee bows before Him. I contend to live out the plans and purposes He has for me and choose to yield to His greatness.

God, these are just some of the names we can know You by. Fill us with glorylight and Godsight as the truth and power of Your word captures our hearts and captivates our souls. Speak into the silence of our days and infuse our hearts with words of life. We yield God to the fullness of knowing You.
