Choosing Faithfulness

Psalm 101:1

“I will sing of loving-kindness and justice, to you O Lord, I will sing praises.”

I will sing, I will raise my voice and sing. As I do, lifted from my heart will be discouragement, despair and despondency.

However, you may ask, how can we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land… of disease…and whatever difficult place you find yourself?

We can sing because He who called us is faithful. He has promised to complete the good work He began in us.  He has said He will never leave us or forsake us; He will not leave us helpless.

Our Responsibility

It is up to each one of us to change our tunes.  We choose to sing of the faithful loving-kindness of our God.  We make daily decisions, sometimes moment-by-moment decisions because a whole day is too much to take in all at once.  Our songs of praise chase away the ungodly thoughts that run rampant in our minds.

We will yearn for the just judgements of the Lord to come to place in our lives.  He has good things planned for us, so we will not shy away or choose not to yield when He opens the door of the refining crucible.  We know that though our flesh does not want to stand the heat even so, our spirits are groaning and longing for the growth of holiness and purity in every aspect of life.

Justice must be served and that which is unrighteous within us must die.

Psalm 101:2

I will give heed to the blameless way.  Oh, when will you come to me?

Giving heed to the blameless way is our unanimous choice.  As we have been growing, adding to our faith goodness, and knowledge, so grows our desire and ability to yield and give ourselves to the way of God, which is beyond reproach.

Even When It is Hard

There seems to be no question of the Psalmist’s desire and choice to pay attention to the manner of his walk. It seems that at the same time his godly choice is being made, he is groaning because he knows he has not attained the level of blamelessness he would like. So it is true for us all.  We must remember in our walk that before we call, God answers and God is a present help with us.

The heart of my husband and my heart are set on godliness, our desire is to delight the Lord with our blameless walk and the two realities are this:  We blow it.  The Lord loves us.  The enemy of our souls is trying to thwart us and at the same time the Lord our God is orchestrating His good plans for us.  It is His song of joyous victory that will be heard when we choose to yield to His conducting.

In these days of trouble, I choose to walk with integrity, being faithful to the Word of God.

I will choose to love the Lord my God with all my heart.

When perfect love fills my heart there is no room for fear!

Psalm 119: 129  Your testimonies are wonderful; Therefore my soul observes them.

Those who hope in the Lord will not be disappointed is what comes to mind after reading your blog,Jeannie. The Lord knows your heart is after Him even when you feel you have “blown it” It’s not what we do that makes us acceptable to God but it’s all about what Jesus has done for us. May you both boldly come before the throne of grace and receive grace to help in this time of need. Yes, He is faithful. May your roots be firmly anchored in Him in the midst of this storm You will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
