We have treasure buried in the field of our hearts; treasure we can depend on and trust in.
The treasure shines bright, it never loses its value, and its currency is even greater than gold.
However, for many of us we have covered that treasure with worldly thinking and a worldly focus. Soon, this field of our hearts is a mound of dirt rather than a field of good, rich soil bearing good fruit.
Trusting in God with all of our heart requires a stripping away of the layers of dirt and veneer that cover the untruths needing removal. We don’t think about the lies and falsehoods we believe until we are confronted with a situation. In fact, until a difficult situation arises, we are not even aware of what our hearts are truly trusting.
Where is your heart trusting?
As in the process of the sale of our house, the Lord showed me how I have been trusting in my own dreams and perceptions. I have been looking at approximately how much money we might end up with after the sale, focusing on that and I hear the Spirit of the Lord say, “the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink but righteousness peace and joy. The Kingdom of God is treasure buried in the field of our hearts. The Kingdom of God means focusing on the intangible and not on what we can see.”
Our beloved God wants us to look at Him alone and be so enamored by His beauty, grace and kindness that we lift up holy hands in worship, praise and adoration.
Psalm 63:4 I bless You every time I take a breath (Praise You Jesus, I bless You Father), My arms wave live banners, (I bless You Lord, I bless Your Holy Name, Worthy are You Lord, Worthy are You, Lord), of praise to You.
The simple physical act of lifting our hands before the King can bring change to our circumstances. How? When we come before Him with closed hands, we are holding onto what we perceive as ‘ours’. However, the truth? We are stewards and the only treasure we possess is the immeasurable greatness of the glory of God in the field of our hearts!
The Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure buried in a field, which a man found and hid again; then in his joy, he goes and sells all he has to buy that field. Matthew 13:44
We possess this glorious treasure, this divine Light of the Gospel in our frail human hearts. Our hearts are the field and the field can be pure or strewn with litter and covered with mounds of earth. These ‘mounds of earth’ are covering up the treasure. The mounds of wrong thinking and perceptions shade and bring eventual darkness to the field of our hearts.
If we were to ‘hide precious treasure’ in a field we wouldn’t be leaving telltale marks of its hiding place so the enemy can easily come in and steal from us. No! We keep a pure heart and a heart wholly trusting in the Lord and in His promises. Hiding His promises in our hearts so we do not sin and hiding His Word in our hearts to keep pure.
The Treasure is Valuable
The value of the intangible Treasure of God can be lost when we keep our eyes too long focused on the riches of this world.
The treasure of God’s glory never loses its value; we just allow it to feel of diminished value by looking at the glittery pseudo-gold of the world.
Can you see as you lift up your holy hands to the Lord, palms upturned and fingers spread wide; can you see all that you have been holding onto slip right through your fingers…
Don’t hang on
Let it go
Lifted to God
Nothing is ours
All is a gift
Everything belongs to God
Obey His Word
Lift holy hands
Breathe and bless His Name.
He is good.
God is the giver of every good and perfect gift and God our Father has already given us all we need for life and godliness so will you trust Him with your whole heart? Will you ask Him where the mounds of earth are so you can uncover the treasure buried in the field of your hearts?
To God, all of who we are is laid bare. The truth of who we are reveals itself to us as we hear the voice of God tenderly speaking to our hearts. As every moment of every day of our lives is lived in the light of His holy purity, our conscious thoughts are more apt to be God-focused and God-centered and ultimately our subconscious thoughts take care of themselves.
That which is underneath receives a constant cleansing as we renew our minds with the Word of God. Like a magnet to metal and moth to the flame we are inexplicably drawn to the center of our Father’s heart.
Holy purity is seen in the lives of those who are wholly consecrated and set apart for the glory of God, those who have emptied their lives of self’s desires-not just for God’s praise for works well done, but in order to be full of something much greater.
Will we die so that He may live through us? Will we die to our will, our way, our wantonness? Will we let His glory bring light to our understanding so we might know how to put on the newness of truth in our minds and how to walk and live and talk like God in true righteousness and holiness.
The breastplate of righteousness guards the glory of God within us even as it breaks the power of sin’s dominion over us by our consistent good and right choices enabling us to walk in the love and peace of God.
Your life and all that you are is a gift; have you abandoned yourself in your pursuit of God and the giving out of what He has given you?
